Life on the bamboo line.

With the plan of taking a ‘norry’ (bamboo train)and possibly more, into the middle of nowhere, we found ourselves stranded in a small village called Phnom Thipadei by lunchtime, with no sign of anymore trains leaving the same day. We had a wander around what was quite an interesting area, in its own dry, barren and dilapidated way. We were up at four o ‘clock the next morning and watched in darkness as the small market centre slowly came to life. By eight o ‘clock the vegetable norry came in, and we were lucky enough to hitch a ride all the way back to Battambang on a norry delivering charcoal.
